English Dinner: Mushy Peas

Mushy peas are a northern English side dish and traditionally served with fish and chips. We served them with nut roast, gravy, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings.

  • 500g frozen peas
  • 50g butter
  • mint (to taste, we used 1/3 bunch)
  • salt and pepper

Equipment: chopping board, knife, saucepan, blender (potato masher or pestle)

Steps: Defrost the peas and finely chop the mint. Combine in a saucepan with butter, salt and pepper, heat until the butter melts. Use a blender, potato masher or pestle to get the desired texture. Heat and serve.
